Studio Etiquette

Please read the Studio Etiquette so you can be prepared for your classes and know what to expect.

Preparing for your class

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to ensure you are well hydrated. You may wish to avoid eating 1-2 hours before your yoga class.

  • Avoid wearing perfumes or heavy scents on the days you attend class. Other students may have allergies to perfumes or essential oils.

  • Leave your valuables at home. Although we make every effort to ensure our space is safe, Hearts Peak Collective Inc. takes no responsibility for the loss of your property.

Arriving at the Studio

  • Regular attendees are asked to arrive 10-15 minutes before the class starts. New students attending their first class are asked to arrive 20 minutes early

  • No late arrivals as the studio door will be locked during the class. If you arrive late and are locked out, unfortunately this results in a late cancellation fee.

  • Online cancellation is only allowed up to 2 hours prior to the start of the class. No shows and late cancellation are subject to a loss of credit and/or a late cancellation fee

  • Special events require a 48 hour notice of cancellation. Some events are non-refundable. Be sure to check the event details when signing up

  • Online booking is only available up to 1 hour prior to the class starting. If the class is on the schedule yet, the class will run. If it is not on the schedule any longer, it has been cancelled due to low attendance. You can always call to check if the class is running

  • Please take off your shoes when you enter the studio, and leave them at the door. Out of respect for other clients, ensure your feet are clean

  • Turn your cellphone and smartwatch off and place it in your bag or purse, which can be left in the entranceway on the hangers - our doors are locked during classes

  • Be as quiet as possible when in the reception area, as voices carry

  • Move silently in the studio and avoid talking once on your yoga mat in order to honour everyones personal practice

  • When entering the studio, bring only your yoga mat, water bottle and any props for the class. Cell phones are NOT permitted in the studio area

  • Most importantly **Check your ego at the door. Remember, you're here for yourself-not anyone else**

During Class

  • Never hold your breath. Breathe calmly and deeply as you move through your poses and as you rest in between

  • Do your best to stay in the class. If you feel light-headed or dizzy, lie in savasana or child's pose and focus on your breath

  • It is perfectly acceptable to sit out of any posture at any time. If you're extra sore or have an injury, let your instructor know before the class begins

  • Practice stillness between postures. Honour the silence in the room by moving quietly

  • If you need to leave the class, please make eye contact with your instructor so they know you are ok

After Class

  • We understand that you may need to leave class early, so please discuss with the instructor prior to class so (out of respect for everyone) you can exit before savasana

  • Continue to observe silence. Leave the room quietly without disturbing others. Remember your voice carries in the reception area

  • If you found the class challenging, please consider attending for at least 3 classes. It takes time for your body to adapt to your new physical activity

  • Continue drinking water to stay hydrated
